New Year = New Me, New Goals

Happy belated New Year! Hard to believe that 2011 is gone and 2012 is here; I am actually pretty happy to see a new year. 2011 was a rough one and I know that 2012 is going to be SO much better. This is a fresh start. New year, new me and new goals abound. On Saturday night, I made sure to say “eff you” to 2011, not remembering half the night and feeling the effects of my celebration for two days afterward. But I figured after everything I have been through, it was allowed πŸ™‚ On Sunday morning, I plunged into 2012 despite my raging hangover and horrible memory loss of the previous nights events. And I mean literally “plunged” too. Every year Sullivan’s Island holds their Polar Bear Plunge. This year, the weather was perfect and I was in the best company possible; I joined Elli and her husband Dan. Even though I didn’t run into the ocean, I still hobbled my way into the water and  plunged and it was phenomenal. My ankle still remains fairly swollen, especially when walking, and the pain hasn’t completely disappeared but I didn’t let that stop me. After the New Years Day dip, during our trek back to the car, Dan was kind enough to give me a piggy back half of the way. My sore little legs found a wonderfully big heart to help a sista out. Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe these two friends of mine.

After our chilly dip in the ocean

My right leg continues to get better; slowly. Walking is finally becoming easier but I still have my reservations about being physically able to work once I start up full time. Yesterday was my first day of orientation for work. As nervous as I was about going back, once it was over, I was able to breathe a sigh of relief. Having the structure of a schedule is one of the best feelings ever; I had almost forgotten what that felt like. Now I am willing myself to be nearly pain free by next Wednesday. My first full twelve hour shift back on the floor. This has to happen and I know it will.

My ‘to do’ list continues to get longer and longer. Between doctor appointments, a gym membership, a new license, filling prescriptions… Oy vey… Tomorrow after day 3 or orienting, my plan is to go and sign up for my gym membership at the Wellness Center. Lucky for me Miss Elli now works there so I can train with her again; can’t freakin’ wait.

Let me just say that the feedback and comments that I get from you guys are so uplifting and wonderful. Keep it coming πŸ˜‰

Love and light.
