Just Ask

In the past week or so I have learned one very big, valuable lesson, actually, make that two. The first is don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. Not only are your wishes granted but the way in which it happens is typically very magical. Besides, if you don’t ask the answer will ALWAYS be “No.” Don’t believe me? Let me give you a little example…

For months I have struggled with trying to find a one bedroom apartment in downtown Charleston. When I did find one that I fell in love with, it didn’t end up working out. You can imagine how disappointed and down I got after that happened. Hopeful? No. Hopeless? You bet. Several friends told me that something would workout but my time was running out as I had to move in a few weeks. After meeting with my dear friend Jessica, her solution was simple: visualize what you want and write it out. Every single detail from sounds to smells. So I did. What did I want? A quiet one bedroom, one bathroom apartment in downtown Charleston. Close to work. A porch and lots of windows. A full kitchen, washer and dryer, central heat and air. You get the picture.

Not even two days after I wrote it all out, it happened. I responded to a posting on craigslist for an apartment which just so happened to be next door to two of my good friends. The landlord agreed to meet the next day; nicest guy ever. Not only was it everything I had asked for but I was even able to talk the landlord down in the monthly rent. BOOM! That just happened.

If you want something, go for it. Ask. The minute you ask, it already exists somewhere and it will come when the time is right. What is the worst that could happen? Someone says “No?” Big whoop. You gave it a shot right? Go ahead and just do it already; empower yourself 🙂

Love.
